Deep Carved Glass

Deep Carving is a unique way to produce a three-dimensional image with a single sheet of glass. Carving both sides of the glass creates more depth, and airbrushing pigments into the carved areas adds even more depth. A range of colors and translucence can be achieved with the thickness of the pigment.

While it is a bit of a messy and dangerous process, deep carving creates beautiful results. Covered from head to toe in protective gear, in a specially-built room, I use a tool similar to an airbrush gun to apply high pressure and aluminum oxide abrasive to carve the glass.
